Independent Cambodia Travel - Suggested Itineraries

Our independent Cambodia itineraries are a suggestion of how you can create a longer trip through Cambodia by combining a series of our short independent Cambodia tours or travel modules. They can be done as they are or individually tailored to create your ideal trip.

You'll find that our Cambodia itineraries include a mixture of individual and small group travel, balancing personal and social experience. We are always careful to select attractive, central accommodation with local character.

Prices below are valid until 31st of October 2013, are based on two people travelling and exclude international flights. Prices for departures beyond this date and for international flights are available on request. For departures during peak seasons (e.g. summer holidays, Christmas and New Year) supplements may apply.

Ideal for travellers pushed for time, this independent Cambodia itinerary packs the country's cultural highlights into a small timeframe. Wander wide-eyed through the lively streets of Phnom Penh and learn more about the tumultuous history of the country before heading south to relax and explore the idyllic Cambodian beaches. Sihanoukville offers long sandy beaches with snorkelling and diving opportunities and Kep is a great base if you like to visit deserted islands, trek along inland forest paths and witness spectacular sunsets. After a quick overnight stop in Phnom Penh you’ll continue the journey north again to stay in the quaint town of Siem Reap and to explore the true highlight of your Cambodia adventure – the majestic, mystical and ancient temples of Angkor Wat.

During this comprehensive Cambodia itinerary you will see all the country's well-known highlights. After a relaxed start in Bangkok you'll next explore the wonders of the Ayutthaya temples, Thailand's ancient capital. Your journey will continue to the Cambodian capital city, Phnom Penh, with its many mopeds, bikes and street vendors. You'll learn about the turbulent history of Cambodia during a visit to the Killing Fields and Tuol Sleng Museum with a local guide. After Phnom Penh it's time to chill out on the laid-back and idyllic beaches of Kep and Sihanoukville, which are quieter and less touristy than some of the busier beach destinationas of South East Asia. The grand finale of your trip is a visit to magical, mystical Angkor Wat. Here, you can wander among the ancient ruins and temples while your guide brings everything to life with much background information and stories.

This Thailand and Cambodia itinerary offers you the highlights of both countries with the option to add some extra time to swing in a hammock on tropical Ko Chang Island. You'll start your trip in Thailand's lively capital, Bangkok, before spending the night at the River Kwai on the banks of a quiet jungle river. Next, you'll explore the mystical temples in Ayutthaya before travelling north by night train to Chiang Mai. Hop on an elephant's back for a trek through the mountainous area that is home to many friendly hill tribes. Afterwards, you'll board a train and travel through a green, wooded area on your way to Cambodia where Angkor Wat will be waiting for you to explore. You'll learn more about Cambodia's tumultuous past in Phnom Penh and then travel through colourful Battambang, on your way back to Bangkok. This itinerary combines lively Vietnam with untainted Cambodia. After drifting amongst stunning karst mountains in Halong Bay, relaxing in friendly Hoi An and crawling through the Cu Chi tunnels in former Saigon you'll travel along the Mekong Delta, cross the border into Cambodia and journey on to the capital, Phnom Penh. Here you'll be confronted by the Killing Fields and the tumultuous history of Cambodia. Next, a boat will take you across the mighty Tonle Sap Lake to Siem Reap, the gateway to one of the most famous temple complexes in the world, Angkor Wat.
